Even though there are many Xiaomi phones that might be coming soon – MI Note 11 and MI 11T Spring to Mind – Xiaomi Mi 12 will be my next real-seeded cellphone.
Mi 12 follows Xiaomi MI 11, Flagship brand 2020, which also has a premium sibling in ultra and medium siblings in MI 11 Lite 5G. While we gave the ‘vanilla’ mi 11 score, there were always things that the successor could do better.
We have included all the new things we want to see in Xiaomi Mi 12 below, based on what we like (and not) about the MI 11 series, and see other Xiaomi phones and handsets made by other companies.
There is no leaking about Xiaomi Mi 12 so far – the possibility is too early to hear it – but when they start cutting, possibly in the last few months this year, we will report everything and share it all on this page. So keep waiting for it.
Xiaomi is a strange company for the release date, at least rate from the MI 11 series, and MI 12 may not be different.
MI 11 was first launched in December 2020, in the only Chinese launch. It took 2021 February for the global launch and a month until it went on sale.
It was strange and stretched the schedule that negated many cellphone hype at that time reached the global market, so hopefully Xiaomi will not repeat it for MI 12. We cannot know for sure.
Regarding the price of Xiaomi Mi 12, we can once again just go to MI 11 as a guide. This phone costs £ 749 / au $ 1,099 (around $ 1,040), which put it in line with the Samsung Galaxy S21 and Oneplus 9 in terms of price – expecting a similar competition next year.
