Apple released new updates for iOS and iPados that patch important webkit vulnerabilities. Updates are iOS 15.3.1 and iPados 15.3.1.
Vulnerabilities are reported to allow malicious websites to execute code on devices such as iPhone or iPad Pro which can then cause all kinds of deviations in security. Apple said that vulnerabilities have been exploited but do not share details about the number of affected users or damage caused.
“Impact: Processing web content made evil can cause an arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of the report that this problem might have been actively exploited,” Apple said on his support website about the CVE-2022-22620 vulnerability, which seemed to be seen by an anonymous researcher.
IOS update 15.3.1 is available for iPhone 6s and on it, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and newer, the 5th generation iPad and later, iPad mini 4 and newer, and iPod touch (generation to -7).
Apple also released similar updates for MacOS which corrected the same CVE-2022-22620 vulnerability. Monterey MacOS update 12.2.1 is available for all devices that support Monterey MacOS updates.
Update Watchos 8.4.2 has also been released for the Apple Watch model that is supported. The company also pushes updates to safari. Safari Update 15.3 For MacOS Big Sur (Build Number 16612.4.9.1.8) and MacOS Catalina (Build Number 15612.4.9.1.8) that fix the problem.
Needless to say, users must update to the latest version as soon as possible. To get a new update on your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings application and go to General / Software Update.
