Ereaders who doubled as non-new digital recorders – Onyx Boox tablets are a good example – but they are not widely available. For Kobo ereader makers, a very new digital usage device.
For the first time, Kobo has added a stylus-toting device to the range of the eReader. Called Kobo Elipsa, this device offers a 10.3-inch cart glare-free carta free display and 32GB whopping storage (the other first for Kobo).
Stylus can be used to record or add a diagram to ebook and PDF, or just scribble and record a list of tasks as if you are writing on a piece of empty paper. Your handwriting notes can be converted into text typed with one beats and stored in the part of my notebook from the ereader, in turn, can be arranged according to the order.
Notes, lists, and images can then be exported as documents directly to the cloud (or imported documents), thanks to the integration of the Dropbox Kobo.
Choose your style
Where before you have to choose text with a long press on the Kobo Ederaders which is longer to highlight or discuss, there is a button on the stylus that will highlight the text for you when you draw it along the page. Think you made a mistake? Cobo makes you covered with another button on the stylus that will remove the errors you might make.
Kobo also said that Sylus can be adjusted to your personal preferences. While it promises to feel like a ballpoint pen, you will be able to choose “pen type, shade, line size and eraser size that suits your needs”.
With a 10.3-inch screen, Kobo Elipsa is not an ordinary ereader. This is equivalent to tablets such as iPad Pro 10.5 inches and Samsung series devices. While it’s still portable, it’s not a fit-in-bag size that we usually use with the current cobo ereaders plant (the biggest is the forma at 8 inches) and Kindles. And then there is stylus support, which is also in line with the iPad tablet and a newer tab. Even though you can use Apple and Samsung tablets to record notes and read ebooks, you cannot explain in margins when reading on special applications such as Kindle or Cobo.
While devices like 2 extraordinary screens (also with a 103-inch screen) are referred to as more tablet taking notes than the ereader, Kobo installs elements as a more versatile device.
For your reading fun
That said, the elements are, first and foremost, ereader. And to make sure you read comfortably, Kobo brings its innate comfort technology to elipsa too. Brightness can be adjusted, and even set to change automatically from cooler white hue to warmer yellow light depending on the time of day at your location – because now some more premium Cobo devices can be done.
Kobo said Elipsa used the latest ink technology – Carta 1200 screen – which promised to be faster and more responsive than before, with deeper contrast to make the text look sharper. For the first time on a Cobo device, there is even a dark mode that switches to white text on a black background.
The usual Kobo feature is here too – Overdrive support for borrowing library books (available in certain countries) and pocket integration to read long-shape web articles.
