Xiaomi India has refreshed its Redmi Note 12 series with a new 4G smartphone, dubbed Redmi Note 12 4G. The company has also launched a Redmi 12C for budget-focused customers. While the two phones lack 5G, Xiaomi is playing around with the duo’s colour options to appeal to younger customers. The Redmi 12C is a more affordable offering with modest specifications. The Note 12 packs notable features such as an AMOLED display, 33W fast charging, and a 50-megapixel primary camera. The India variant of the Redmi Note 12 4G gets a Sunrise Gold colour option that the global variant does not have.
Redmi 12C and Redmi Note 12 prices in India
The Redmi 12C’s price in India starts at Rs 8,999 for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The other variant with 6GB and 128GB storage costs Rs 10,999.The Redmi Note 12, on the other hand, costs Rs 14,999 for the base option (64GB storage). Its 6GB and 128GB storage model will be available for Rs 16,999. Xiaomi is also going to offer bank offers as a part of the Xiaomi Fan Festival Special.

Despite being a budget device, the Redmi 12C focuses heavily on design that might appeal to many customers. The rear panel also has a textured design and a fingerprint sensor for biometric security. The placement is slightly odd as most phones, including Xiaomi’s other Redmi Note devices, come with either an under-display sensor or a side-mounted scanner. There’s also an IP52 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
The Redmi 12C is powered by Helio G85 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery. However, the phone includes a micro USB port for charging (10W), while smartphones are moving towards the universal USB-C port. For instance, Motorola’s latest Moto E13 (priced similarly to Redmi 12C) includes a Type-C port for charging.
The rear camera system includes a 50-megapixel primary camera and an extra sensor. The 6.7-inch display has a waterdrop-style notch for the 5-megapixel selfie camera. The display has a standard LCD panel and offers HD+ resolution. Other key features include up to 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, dual-SIM card support, and Android 12-based MIUI 13.

The rear camera system includes a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
