In the past, unblocking the top streaming site with VPN did not lack nightmare usability. If a service works at all, it may only be on one or two servers, and you will go to work through a complete list to find the location that keeps you in – Chicago? Not. Detroit? Not. Miami? Not. New Jersey? Not…
This inconsistency in all locations is a large pain, so we have kept special eyes during our latest testing to see how bad the problem was in 2021. Even if VPN streaming has a specialist server to unblock Netflix, say, we test, we test at least three times, Make sure we have three different IPs, to get an overview of how reliably blocked.

Fantastic or weak?
In testing our latest round VPN which translates to three checks for each of the four core blocking test sites, in more than 20 VPNs, or more than 250 total checks – so samples that occur.
As usual, it is blocked the level of success varies drastically between providers – there are great ones, others are weak – but in terms of consistency, our testing group is very good, with only four tests of 92 where the company takes us into a streaming platform IP address, but Fail with another.
The US Netflix proves the biggest challenge, as usual, with three of the 23 providers giving us different results depending on the location. BBC iPlayer saw one provider with problems, while Amazon Prime and Disney + did not have a problem consistency at all: we saw the same success (or failure) blocked with every location we tried.
There is still a lot to do in terms of the success of blocking as a whole – seven of our 23 VPNs fail with at least two streaming platforms – but it’s good to see most services providing reliable and consistent results. That’s a real usefulness plus.
