Moving forward, Tesla will store all data from the car he sold in China at the local data center in the country. The announcement came after the Chinese government forbade Tesla’s vehicles from military facilities through spy fears, and the company brought to social media to overcome the problem. At that time, Tesla said it planned to open the local data center at the end of June.
“We have established a data center in China to localize data storage, and will continue to add more local data centers,” said the company on the Weibo Chinese social media website. “All data produced from vehicle sales in the mainland market China will be stored in China.” In the same statement, the company announced it was also working on the platform that would give Tesla owners in China ways to access their own data.
As Wall Street Journal Notes, this country will soon need all foreign car companies to store vehicle data in China. After the previous legislation draft in the previous month, the country also plans to only allow car makers who have passed the security assessment to send any data abroad.
