Hyundai slowly dropped instructions on the ability of 2022 Ioniq 5 which was upcoming, the first EV was built on the new E-GMP vehicle platform company, since the initial seductive at the Frankfurt Auto Show last August. But the time for the instructions has passed when Ioniq 5 made North America’s official debut on Monday.
We have got a pretty good look on what will be under the IONIQ 5 hood when it reaches the Dealer showroom: 72.6-KWh battery (or optional 77.4-kWh) a single single drive (2WD) or dual (4WD) e -Motor to provide up to 300 miles range, 320 horsepower, 446 pound torque, 1,500 pound crane capacity and 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, depending on loading your vehicle.
The 800V electrical architecture allows it to charge up to 350 kW which means it can fill from 10 percent to 80 in 18 minutes or add 62 miles only in 5 minutes. Level 2 charger will do work in 6 hours and 43 minutes. As an incentive for prospective buyers, Hyundai offers a free 30 minute fee without limits on the American 600-station network for the first two years of IONIQ 5 ownership.
IoniQ 5 will also be the first EV to offer the Hyundai windshield based ar hud. Kona EV that we reviewed in the Pre-Covid Alforetime featuring a neat pop-up hud that appeared from the steering column when used. This new instead of projecting information – navigation instructions, fennel warnings, and even 360 degrees views are not hindered from the exterior of the vehicle for up to 4 feet – directly to the windshield itself.
HUD is paired with a 12-inch center infotainment system that can be very useful in the near future. Look, Hyundai is currently developing a safe payment system in a safe car that will basically save the driver’s credit card info in the infotainment system, allowing them to pay anything from the EV charging port to fast food and coffee to the parking lot. Imaging does not need to search on the back seat cushion looking for the quarter anymore. It lives there. There is no news about when this feature might really be launched but Hyundai has set a schedule for the update of his Biannual OTA for April and October, so, the fingers cross to fall.
Apple Carlay and Android Compatibility Auto both Come Standard and IONIQ 5 will work with the latest version of Hyundai car services that are connected with Hyundai which allow drivers to control various onboard systems and receive status updates through their smartphones. While in the vehicle itself, the same drivers and passengers can control a number of features – including air conditioning, heated chairs and steering wheels, even opening and closing the trunk hatch – with simple voice commands.
We still don’t know what Hyundai plans to ask IONIQ 5, even though we now know where we will see it first. According to the car maker, IoniQ 5 will be “sold at the Hyundai store in the country 10 Zero-Emissions (ZEV) stated” plus Texas, Florida, Illinois, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Arizona in the second half of this year, before a wider person. The launch occurred in 2022.
