Really unexpected that the beginning of a smart home market saw a different system that speaks different languages, A.K.A. Protocol, to coordinate their activities. There is an effort to consolidate this different system or at least support most of them with one way or another. Material, the new name of the Standard Connectivity Alliance, is the latest effort and it’s not only for Android but also Google Smart Smart Platform.
That Google will announce support for material is also not too surprising. However, it is one of the founding members of the Alliance and the old name, project chips or houses that are connected via IP. Other members include Amazon, Apple, and Samsung Smarthings, covering various smart home systems and products.
It doesn’t say when the arrival of material on Android and the nest can help increase adoption of smart products and the IoT further. The owner of an Android phone will be sure that they will be able to manage and control products that are in accordance with the material from their cellphones. The Google Nest owner will also use their device as a hub for other products.
It was not the only news related to the smart home that Google was announced on I / O 2021. The list included a new home on the web for all your smart home needs. There is a new landing page for compatible Google Assistant products and information material about them.
Google also utilizes WebRTC protocols which are mainly designed for things like video chat. But in this context, it will improve the quality of video and audio direct streaming between security cameras, video doors, and cellular devices. Google has not announced the timeline for these features that have just become a smart homeowner will want to watch when it pushes the update.
