Some smart home fans still praise Google’s chromecast audio, but the new Connect Soundform Belkin aims to fulfill a similar role – for iOS users, too. The $ 100 dongle can be connected to any traditional home speakers and turn it into smart speakers compatible with AirPlay you can provide audio from iPhone and iPad running iOS 11.4 and iPados 11.4 or newer, plus MAC running Catalina and Apple TV with TVOS 11.4.
And when we “there are” home speakers, we are really serious. The shape of the voice has at least one good touch, chromecast is not – outside that still exists, that is. In addition to classic 3.5mm jack, there is also a port for standard optical connections – Audio Chromecast requires audiophile to own or buy a Toslink-to-3.5mm adapter.
According to Belkin, users will be able to ask Siri to play their music or podcasts on the speaker in question, and request what virtual assistants play in each room and control the volume of speakers remotely. And beyond that, the addition of Airplay 2 means you will be able to set the speaker referred to to a particular room and tie it into a home automation scheme from within the Apple home application. Is the function rate really worth $ 100? We will tell you so we take one for a round, but keep your eyes peeled if you have already been sold on the concept – Belkin says the Connect soundform will be available from “Select retailer” immediately.
