Last month, Apple announced it would begin to allow podcast producers and publishers to offer premium subscriptions to their listeners. Towards the general availability of the feature later this month, the company expanded the service performance partner program to enter podcasts (through techcrunch). The affiliate program will allow participants to get a 50 percent commission when turning someone into a paid customer.
This is how it works. Say, after tapping the Apple Affiliate Link, someone signed up to subscribe which cost $ 10 per month. People or organizations related to the link will get a one-time commission for $ 5 after that the user pays for the first month of their paid service. Apple will not apply a hat on the commission, and it applies to all new customers.
This program is open to anyone in 170 countries where Apple will offer a podcast subscription later this month, but being an affiliate requires approval from the company. Apple shows that it is most reasonable for podcast manufacturers and publishers to take part. They can use their affiliate link to get additional income from their own content (and somewhat offset 30 percent, and then cut 15 percent, Apple will take from paid podcasts). Each participant program will get a unique affiliate token that they can add to their Apple Podcast link. In addition, tokens work with third-party link tracking services and make it directly for producers to track their affiliate income.
It may seem strange for Apple to launch an affiliate program before people can even register for a premium podcast subscription. However, it was one of the things that helped owned the first day to give incentives to the creator to offer a subscription in the first place.
