Jeep is a well-known brand in many parts of the world, not just the US. While the most iconic vehicle is no doubt Wrangler, who is very capable, he has many other vehicles for his credit. Recently, Jeep teases a new crossover SUV which will be sold in Brazil called Commander.
The name was used in other Jeep models in the past, and it was not like the previous model. The new commander will be based on the Jeep Kompas, which is a compact crossover SUV. The main difference between compass and commander is that the commander has three lines of seating.
That means the compact SUV will have enough space to bring seven people. How comfortable seven people will be in compact crossover still have to be seen. Jeep does not offer real details about commanders other than video teasers, which can be seen below. What we see in the video is a dark line from the front and what seems to be the back of the vehicle.
It won’t be surprising if it’s basically a little stretched compass, but what still has to be seen. The commander will be built in Brazil, and there are no indications, if any, other markets where the vehicle will be sold.
This vehicle is expected to be very similar to the current compass in the interior but has a longer back door and a longer rear overhang to accommodate the third row seat. The new commander is also expected to revise the rear pillar and unique rear-quarter glass. Jeep has promised more details about the SUV to be released soon. One of the newer announcements by the Jeep available now in the US is a plug-in Hybrid Wrangler known as 4xe which can drive around 20 miles on battery power only.
